Format Guidelines

All written assignments you will have in college will have a particular writing format. This will vary from subject to subject and class to class. Format is easy, but very important. Be careful not to earn a poor grade because you ignored format rules!

ESL 111 has a specific writing format you should follow:

• Black, Times New Roman, and size 12 pt. font
• Double-spaced
• 1" margins
• Indented paragraphs
• Saved as a .doc or .rtf file
• Named netidASSIGNMENTNAME
• NetID, UIN, Course Section, Date, Preferred name on the top of the paper.
• APA Citation for this class. Some classes want MLA citation.
